Aquasil Soft Putty has a lower Shore A hardness (softer consistency) than Aquasil Hard Putty. Regular Set putty should be seated in the tray within 1 minute 30 seconds of the start of mixing and retained for 3 minutes minimum before removal. Fast Set shortens both working and setting times.
Aquasil Soft Putty is designed to be used with Aquasil Ultra wash materials in the XLV (extra light viscosity) or LV (light viscosity) format as the second-step wash in a two-step impression technique. The Aquasil Ultra+ formulation is the current generation. Compatibility with other VPS wash materials is generally possible but Dentsply recommends using matched system components for optimal adhesion between putty and wash layers.
Yes. VPS impression materials require a tray adhesive (such as Dentsply's Silfix adhesive) applied to the impression tray before loading the putty. The adhesive creates a bond between the set VPS material and the tray surface, preventing the impression from separating from the tray during removal from the mouth. The adhesive should be applied in a thin layer and allowed to dry for 3 minutes before loading the tray. Do not use VPS materials without tray adhesive.
